Alternative Process #3 - Multiple Exposure

For my last alternative process I chose to do a multiple exposure. I was always impressed with Jerry Uelsmann's photos and techniques. He began assembling photographs from multiple negatives decades before digital tools like photo shop were available. I always likes the photos where trees were involved in, the seem like they are roots coming out of something. For my photo I chose a picture of Tanya in the field behind the fence and the other photo was of the trees at school. I used two enlargers and placed Tanya's photo on the top and the trees on the bottom to make them line with the grass to look like roots. This process took me a while because since I wanted the trees to be perfectly lined and make sure the exposing time was correct for both photos. The hardest part of this assignment was the burning and dodging, I only exposed one of my photos for two seconds so I felt like I didn't have enough time to burn and dodge the entire area that I didn't want to be exposed.
